India - Mauryan Empire - Necklace - approx. 620 grams
Description:
A very interesting piece of ancient jewelry. We were not able to find anything comparable. It is most likely, that 3 silver plates were made around 200 BC to 200 AD as a form of money. However this is only a hypothesis, as only one of the plates feature stamps know to belong to Mauryan empire coins. The necklace itself must have been assembled much later, around 1800.
